Many Hands

Our VBS theme verse for To Mars and Beyond

In past years VBS (Vacation Bible School) Bible lessons have impacted me as much or more than it impacts the children, and has definately given me blog ideas.
This year it has been the "behind the stories" VBS.
Sunday was VBS Sunday....we incorporated our Sunday morning worship into our opening of VBS and the children (voyagers) stayed and we did 2 VBS sessions in one! Starting at 10 am and wrapping up at 1:30. (Some stayed even longer to work out some technical glitches)
Monday night (and the next 2 nights) ran at the usual 6pm-830pm
Basically the whole church building ...and now some areas of the house next door (which we purchased for our parsonage last year) are transformed or utilized for VBS.






πŸ“– Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Romans 12:1

It is pretty phenomenal and it could not have happened with out many!  From simple things like holding scissors and tape for someone hanging decorations...to high ladder work.  From allowing the use of ALL of their DJ equipment (because without it our Mars Out Post would NOT have looked as awesome)....To those who share other props or decorations needed to make our Out Post or Bible Land...to those willing to step in when someone could not make it.
From those of our congregation who are supportive of the outreach VBS is, they graciously came to our VBS Sunday Service... to the ones who give up, basically a week...more than a week...out of their busy schedules to serve in this capacity.
From those who do through pain and injury ..to those who do with small children in tow....because it is teaching the next generation what goes into VBS.
Cooking hot dogs
Mowing the grass
Shopping
Praying
The list goes on ...but the common thread is...
πŸ“– For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function,  so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. Romans 12:4-6a

Each do what they can or are able, to make VBS a success for the children to glorify the Lord!

πŸ“–  So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God

I was disappointed I couldn't seem to get this out earlier in the week...but I believe it is more fitting to post after we had had our final night and closing program...the culmination of all the hard work!  We had our biggest night (26 "voyagers")  when usually our closing program has our least number! (Out total enrollment was 31!)And to hear the children "roar" like lions, and to sing at the top of their lungs to the Lord "we thank you, we thank you, for all the You've done for us!"
Their excitement in gathering their projects from the week...and their surprise gifts!  And to hear them talking about NEXT year!!!  It ALL filled  my heart  to overflowing!

Our verse for the week was Ephesians 3:20
BUT OUR ANTHEM is verse 21!πŸ“– 20 Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, 21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.
I can't sum it up any better than that!!
